While based on a traditional shape, the SCT-607B is anything but old-school with its 7-string, 27 baritone scale and neck-thru-body construction. It features a comfortable alder body and a three-piece maple neck, with an unadorned Macassar ebony fingerboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets.

Its sound comes from a set of Stephens own signature Fishman Fluence pickups, with a ceramic pickup in the bridge and an alnico pickup in the middle position. These pickups have two voices, selectable with a push-pull volume control. Voice 1 (Modern Active) is Stephens midrange tweak on the original modern Fluence sound; Voice 2 (Modern Passive Attack) is Stephens custom voicing with some tone and gain tweaks to give it extra heat and edge.
